Monday – 10am A quieter weekday Mass.
Thursday – 10am Weekday Mass, often followed by coffee and a chance to catch up with others.
Visiting church for the first time?
If you’re visiting us for the first time, you might be wondering what to expect.
There’s no need to feel nervous – just come as you are.
You can be anonymous
If you’d rather just come in, sit quietly and have a look around, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll be pleased you’re here, but we won’t make a fuss or put you on the spot.
Come as you are
There’s no special dress code. Wear whatever you normally feel comfortable in.
Find a seat where you feel at home. If there are any reserved seats will be clearly marked.
If you’d like to chat, there’ll usually be someone around to welcome you. There are also quieter places where you can sit and talk.
Bringing children?
Children are very welcome. During term time, there’s a separate children’s liturgy for part of the 10am Sunday Mass, which children can join if they wish.
A few practical things
We have safeguarding and health and safety arrangements to help keep everyone safe. They’re simply part of looking after one another.
We try to keep the church clean and tidy. If you spot something that needs attention, please tell us.
We ask that animals stay outside, except for assistance animals such as guide dogs.
There’s a large car park in front of the church, shared with St Paulinus School. The main entrance and the church, meeting room and parish hall all have level, wheelchair-friendly access.
The toilets are signposted along the corridor to the right of the main entrance.
And one last thing…
Churches have a habit of developing their own language! We sometimes use words that make perfect sense to us but perhaps not to others.
If we do, please ask. We’d much rather explain something than leave you wondering what on earth we’re talking about. 😊
When you can join us
There are lots of different ways to spend time with us. You don’t have to understand everything or join in with everything. Just come and see what feels right for you.
10am Sunday Mass Our main Sunday celebration — with prayer, singing, Scripture, a message and Holy Communion.
If you have not made your First Holy Communion, you’re very welcome to come forward for a blessing instead. Or simply remain in your seat. There’s no pressure either way.
6pm Saturday Mass A quieter, more reflective celebration of the Sunday Mass.
10am Monday and Thursday Mass A smaller weekday celebration.
Adoration Times are available on Monday at 4pm and on Friday at 7pm. This is simply a chance to sit quietly in God’s presence.
Confession 5pm – 5.30pm Saturday An opportunity to talk privately with the priest, especially if there’s something on your mind or you’d like to make a fresh start. What you say in confession is treated with absolute confidentiality.
Above all, you are welcome.
You don’t need to know what to say, where to sit or what to do.
Just come in. We’ll be pleased to see you.
